Lady in rain
A single figure rises from the vanishing point, umbrella in hand, framed by the symmetry of two sloping walls. The perspective is strict, architectural — yet within it moves something soft and human. The rain has darkened the concrete, turning the tunnel into a kind of stage for reflection and solitude.
Martin Sköld’s composition recalls the spatial tension of Giorgio de Chirico’s metaphysical streets, where light and geometry hold psychological weight.
Shot from below, the perspective dignifies the everyday passer-by. The converging lines pull the viewer’s gaze toward her — not as a portrait of a person, but as a meditation on rhythm and passage. Sköld often finds these thresholds — between shadow and sky, movement and pause — and captures the fleeting beauty of a day that would otherwise go unnoticed.
It is, in essence, a photograph about balance: between architecture and emotion, solitude and grace.
