Title

Son of a Rumanian photographer and a Mexican mother, Enrique Badulescu was born in Mexico City in the 1960s. He grew up in a vibrant culture scene, heavily influenced by surrealism.

Enrique returned to Mexico after graduating from the Bayerische Staatslehranstalt für Photographie program in Munich and traveled extensively around the country, later moving to New York City where he started working as an assistant for fashion photographers. In 1988 he moved to London, where his career took off as a fashion photographer.

Inspired by surrealists he later was called "the colorful mexican".

Enrique is getting ready to pack up his studio in New York and go back to Mexico. There are pictures and slides everywhere, but they're all neatly arranged. He's had his work featured in lots of big magazines in the 90s and worked with famous people. Now, he wants to focus more on his art, especially his collages. One collage he made using photos from a shoot with Kate Moss in 1994 sold for a lot of money at Christie's, and it's inspired him to do more.

The mid-eighties marked a pivotal moment in the evolution of visual storytelling, as the introduction of cross-processing techniques ushered in a new era of color experimentation. In the heart of London, one individual—referred to humorously as "the colorful Mexican"—played a pivotal role in popularizing this vibrant aesthetic. Yet, amidst the fervor for all things colorful, echoes of the past lingered.
The shoot in Tulum 1994 with a young Kate Moss  is today a epic story for Harpers Bazaar.
